Simply put – it starts with good leadership. You lead by example. The objective is to create a rapport with the people that work with and for you. It’s not just for the managers. This applies to all those that share the same work environment. It’s critical, for success to have some alignment, some symmetry that creates a common set of goals. The itinerary and the journey needs to be similar, however, different personalities dictate different set of directions. Managers need to discover the sweet spot that allows them to differentiate the fine line between personal and professional interface.

You can manage the team and yourself by getting inside their heads, gain meaningful insight into who they are, what strengths (and weaknesses) they each have and then leverage that to keep them inspired, challenged, and MOTIVATED.

Challenging your team is key. However, we don’t want to create a confrontational or competitive arena. That will potentially cause conflict, tension and could be counterproductive. The purpose is to set goals, both individually and as a unit whereby, the incentives are driven from within and organically produce results.

Build trust. Manage your organization, not by fear, but with respect. Be steady, but be true to your brand, product, service and yourself. Be true to the mission. We need to think about the people we work with as an investment. As managers and teammates, we do invest time in them. Integrity and honesty will bring a better ROI. Establish that kind of environment and you will keep the team engaged.
