Just like a loaf of bread, everybody gets stale from time to time. Our daily grind becomes….just that – a grind.
Even if you’re lucky enough to really enjoy what you do professionally, you can experience an ‘off’ day.
Nothing uncommon about that and nothing to be concerned about.
I call them “times of transition”. The best way to remedy them is to re-charge your batteries. In a more contemporary vernacular – upgrade your software and re-boot. It’s important to be aware of those feelings and understand that, hopefully, they are temporary and it will pass. However, if these ‘off’ days are extended – that’s another issue and you should look at that with a very discerning eye and get a grip on things. That’s an indicator for change.
If, in fact these are the typical occasional days that just wear on you, that’s cool because you can add perspective to things by creating balance. Good and bad, bad and good.
Life is an evolutionary process. Each day brings change. Work takes up a great deal of our time. Especially today, as we all seem to be investing more time than ever in our professional lives.
You owe it to yourself to take the experiences of each day, learn from them and discover where the holes are and FILL them.
Realign yourself from time to time. Switch things around. Change the progression of your daily grind and minimize the exertion that makes it stale and flat. Alter the rhythm. Keep it fresh. Nobody wants to eat stale bread.
