People, when in time of need, have a bad habit of reaching in instead of reaching out.
When the stuff hits the fan – the best thing you can do is ask for guidance, ask for help, ask for direction, and ask for assistance – ASK FOR HELP.
The best resource you have is YOU. It’s one of my touch points when I counsel clients. Think about the people you know and reach out. Reaching in won’t do it. Naturally, you need to take time to think about the stuff that hit the fan and figure out which pieces you will pick up and toss with the hope that some of that ‘selective’ stuff sticks to the wall. That’s an appropriate time to reflect. Maybe that can be considered reaching in, but once you have your plan in place, the next and only thing you can and should do – reach out.
Everybody needs help from time to time and there’s no shame in asking for it. It’s healthy. It’s productive and it’s the right thing to do.
