When it comes to career development and job search, there is no ‘one size fits all’ process. Despite the common goals and objectives of, “I really need this job” or “I really want this job” or “I really need to make a change”, we are all different personalities with different mindsets. That alone will dictate the search and response will vary…..as it should.

When I sit with a client, my job is to get inside their head to better understand what the career goals are and help navigate the ride. I DON’T drive. No, you do that, but I will help you nav. I am your WAZE, your Google Map, but I will not drive. I am an active partner during the voyage, but the wheel will always be in your hands…as it should be.

As we begin to establish a rapport, build a meaningful dialogue and exchange information, we then map out a path that makes sense for you. It is a customized approach, based on the information you provide, and this is why no ‘one size fits all’ can possibly work. Even if I have several clients looking for the same job, I would not coach them all the same way. Because we are all different and represent certain skills, we will brand ourselves in an appropriate form that sends a message to a prospective hiring manager that interprets in an aligned way and hopefully gets us noticed and hired….as it should.

The long and short of it is simple. I cannot coach with the ‘one size fits all’ approach and you cannot look for a job with a ‘one size fits all’ approach. It won’t work and it won’t fit.
