Nobody wants to settle for the ‘status quo’. We are all looking for a way to convert ‘what is’. With some exceptions, everybody is looking for ‘more’. More represents bigger, better, taking it further, deeper, an increase, something added, and EXTRA.

There are so many ways to look at EXTRA. Considerations towards EXTRA can be defined by all of us in different ways, but when it all shakes out, EXTRA is really what we want or need.

At work, we often look for people who will go the distance and then some. The extra mile: Can you go there? Will you perform well above expectations? If you do and you do well, you are now seen as extra-special. But maybe you are not quite ready to go that distance, or maybe you just need extra time or an extra pair of hands to help get things done. Setting extra goals and objectives can add both pressure and clarity. Extra can be very impactful. Why not consider extraordinary instead of the usual, the standard and what might be seen as routine.

Take the day and meet it head-on. Add extra volume to your agenda. Get extra credit for what you do. Score some extra points. And when things start to get extra rough, pay extra attention to what you need to do, and take it above and beyond. Look for the way to make a CHANGE. It’s the ‘X’ factor that leaves a lasting impression, setting you apart from all the others. Be EXTRA special.
