I often use this word as I coach my clients as a metaphor that symbolizes what a career development plan should be. I also use this word a lot to illustrate what life can and hopefully, should be. I try so hard to manage my life by keeping things FLUID. For me, it represents a steady flow, a fluency, an elegant rhythmic strategy to get me from one place to the next. I look for the baseline in things. A starting point to build something. Having a plan is always a great way to locate that baseline, but we all know what can happen when we plan. We have the blueprint in our head and in our heart. We look for the best possible path to navigate. We choreograph the plan and hope that the outcome is what we envisioned. But stuff happens. Things get in the way. We might stumble along the way. We might even fall, but to let that STOP you in your tracks is so counterproductive to success.
So, when you lose your balance, take a pause, reassess, reboot and unclog the path. Get the ‘brain plunger’ and do your best to reroute and recover. We need to keep things moving forward in all that we do. You have all the ability to regain your footing and make things fluid.
