Are you idealistic or are you realistic? What drives these qualities? Fear – Motivation – Perhaps both.

Is there a way to make them the same? Can they agree with each other and find balance?

I like to approach things and coach my clients to think that it’s more productive to set our sights high. Aim for the center of the target. Challenge yourself by being motivated by both fear and success. They can drive you crazy – but they can also drive you to great areas of achievement and accomplishment. At the very least, there is always a net take away because there is something to be learned from the experience of trying. Never minimize effort.

After all, why do ‘it’ if it doesn’t count? Making it count is what matters. That’s the reward you get for pushing yourself, motivating your team to take the ride with you and keeping them (and yourself) inspired.

Manage yourself in a way that you’d like to be managed. It’s cool to step outside yourself and think about how you look. Not aesthetically – I mean from a pragmatic point of view.

Role play – Ask – how/what do I think?

Without the goals – what drives us? What’s the plan? Where’s the intent? Is there purpose? Is the desire to make ‘it’ happen really there? The results are how we measure the answers to these questions.

The process is how you maintain and nurture interest. Remain enthusiastic and involved – that’s how you build loyalty from those you align and associate with.

If you can do this – I think you can be both realistic and idealistic.
