When I had my photo studio and ANOLOGUE began to transition into the exciting world of DIGITAL, I made a conscious decision to embrace it rather than resist, as many of my contemporaries did. I should point out, they, are no longer active in creative services. I paid close attention to all the external noise about DIGITAL. The young art & creative directors, editors, art buyers, printers and vendors were all both freaking out and feeling excited about what was coming. Unlike me, my young clients grew up with a touchpad and a keyboard, so they were able to accept changes in technology much easier than I was, but I recognized the value and the necessity to manage the change and in retrospect, it was the best thing I did. I was a survivor!

Digital opened so many doors for the creative industries and eventually it has spilled into all industries. Perhaps we can consider what the AI revolution is doing. The point is we MUST embrace what tech does, how it does it, the value it provides and why it’s so important to take it by the hand and walk with it. That’s what ‘moving forward’ is. Embracing change.

When I was on camera, many of my young creative clients would say, and I quote, “that’s good enough, I’ll fix it in post”. I was offended by that. As a traditionally trained photographer, I knew how to problem-solve in the camera. I was able to save time and money and not settle for ‘good enough’. I wanted to always make it better, make it great. Always lean into your history, your back story, your skills (old and new), your experience and find the INTERSECTION POINTS so you can always make it better.
