I don’t think I can recall any day of my adult life that did not have some type of obstacle. They come in all shapes and sizes. They can be emotional, physical, internal, external, habitual, and so many things can drive them. The best way to manage obstacles is to identify them. Don’t run from them. They will not disappear on their own. Once you recognize what’s slowing you down, interfering with your progress, adding the stumbling block, you have no choice but to deal with it. Manage it. Look it in the eye. Stare it down. Kick it’s ### and take charge. Take control. If you let the barrier, get in the way, that’s exactly what it will do – Get in your way.
My theory on O-M (obstacle management) is to use it as a positive so when I do deal with the snag, I have now challenged myself to look at it, process and find a solution. That in of itself is an accomplishment. Consider seeing the obstacle as an experience, something that, in the long run, will provide the opportunity to learn and grow from.
Fear of FAILURE, lack of motivation, procrastination, insufficient skills, self-doubt, distraction, unrealistic expectations, relationships are just some of what can get in the way. They all carry weight, but they will all need to be supervised…..by YOU. Take ownership, find a solution and look for the way to go over it, under it, around it, threw it, do what you must to find a meaningful resolution. In Your Way, if managed well, will make you strong!
