I remember as a kid, when the ball got away, we would yell, ‘Little help,’ and someone would pick it up, toss it back, and the game would resume. A simple 2-word request, and the game would continue. How cool would it be if everything were that simple? There are times when we all need a little help. Consider your own life and how often someone leans on you for assistance, or how often you needed a gentle push to get something done. There is a fine line between being in need and being needy. Hard to determine what that line looks like. We all have different thresholds for that, but who doesn’t require some support or advice from time to time? We all need some counsel, direction, advocacy, and guidance to get through the day. It happens. With rare exception, we all have resources to fill that gap. There is no shame in seeking HELP. Reinforcement is necessary. It can make the difference between success and failure. Failure teaches us, but HELP provides an opportunity to share and exchange ideas and learn. Consider what’s in front of you and look for the appropriate solution. If you can manage the problem yourself, you are ahead of things. I recommend trying to attempt it on your own. But should you require HELP, you must find the best resource to get ‘it’ done. Be direct, be specific, be polite, be respectful. Show you’ve tried, but do not minimize the value of HELP.
