“An act of changing location or position” is how Webster’s defines this word. Yes, there are other applications that can define or describe MOVEMENT, but the one I think about most is how MOVEMENT connects us to our professional lives. It’s all about MOVING FORWARD and creating PROGRESS. I often talk about DESTINATION as in what are your career OBJECTIVES? What are your GOALS? If there is no DESTINATION, where are you going? I can provide the transportation and add NAVIGATION to the process, but at the end of the day – You must drive.

CAREER DEVELOPMENT is a constant and progressive PROCESS that requires your ability to focus on your professional peace of mind. Are you satisfied with what you are doing? If you are – AWESOME! And, if you are not, we have work to do. We need to consider some of the TRANSFER points that will INTERSECT you with some career happiness. 8, 10, 12 hours a day doing something that does not add FULFILLMENT to your life is ‘hard time’ and more than likely will add some stress to your life. It will impact you in a bad way. CHANGE, as scary as it might be for some is how we move forward. Knowing and understanding the TRENDS in your PROFESSIONAL world can and should help you make quality DECISIONS so you can PREPARE to SHIFT the pattern and move on to your NEXT.

Look for the SIGNS. RESEARCH the market. Talk to people. Consider where you are and let that help you determine if it is time to REBOOT. Sometimes it can just be a subtle SHIFT or it might require a major overhaul. Either way, pay attention to where you are, what you are doing and do you come home feeling good about your day and your career. It’s not difficult but FEAR of CHANGE can be pretty powerful and prevent even the strongest of heart to pull back and there is no FULFILLMENT, professionally or personally in that.  Find the COURAGE to create, if necessary, some PROFESSIONAL MOVEMENT.
