The school year is beginning to hit the home stretch and with that, the graduating class of 2015 will be looking at the ‘what’s next’. It might be the most meaningful time of their young lives.

Some of you are lucky and either by hard work, being pro-active or being connected will have a safe place to land and begin the next phase of your life. A great sense of relief. Work! A job! The world of commerce! It’s all good.

Then there are the majority of these solid, eager and qualified young people that don’t have a job lined up yet. Could be as high as 60+%. The forecast is better this year than it has been in quite awhile.

However, stiff competition, and a high percentage of people looking for the same jobs will not make it any easier. What can you do? How do you bring it up a notch? What will differentiate you from the rest?

Why you – why not you? That’s a better question to be asking. There are a variety of search techniques you could use and they will definitely help you get started and move yourself forward. That’s the essence of this process – MOVE FORWARD.

Prioritize your search. The idea of getting your ‘dream job’ is remote. Not to say it can’t or won’t happen – but it might not. You need to be smart and keep an open mind about who you are, what you want and what you will do. The best resource you have is YOU.

That first land is how you build brand equity for yourself, so it’s important to get that 1st job and begin your journey.

Target and connect. Think about who you know and how they can be of assistance to you. No shame in asking for help – so ask.

Networking is a key ingredient in this process. Again, it begins with you, the people you know and finally, the people they know.

Job Search Therapy offers a comprehensive plan that will kick-start this process and get you on you way.
