In life, there will always be things that make us smile, frown, cry, worry, jump for joy, think, pay attention, walk away, consider, cry, laugh, disregard, hurt, shine, ignore and there are those days that just suck. For whatever reason, and they vary for all of us, but they are real and they will stop us in our tracks. It’s easy to crash into ‘something’. And when we do, it can really hurt. We can be home. We can be at work, the field, the game, in front of the TV, we can be anywhere, when it’s unpleasant, we will want/need some help, some guidance to get things back on track. We all need mental triage from time to time. Some are capable of self-triage and many need outsource assistance. Either way, we need to take a beat, a pause and give it a good think. Where is the relief? How can we find reassurance? How can we dial down the stress, the anxiety, the distress? We take a good look in the mirror and ask good questions about the day, the moment and look for an appropriate remedy to get us through. Not in the classic sense, we all need emotional meds from time to time.

Self-reflect, the process of intentionally thinking about your own thoughts, feelings, actions and motivations are the meds I am referring to. Take the time to consider and analyze your experience(s). Recognize where the disconnect is, the break, the interruption and stare it down. Smack it right in the head and draw from your inner core and create your own emergency room. Assess your moment and give yourself the TRIAGE you need and deserve.
