I just returned from 2 weeks of PURE BLISS! It was a vacation to remember. Getting away is always a terrific way to reboot the system. A steady diet of the South of France and Italy will always be food for the soul. The locations and the destinations are almost secondary…..almost. The key is the disconnect. This was the first vacation I have ever taken where I really did just that – I disconnected. I promised myself that I was going to get away. Detach, separate from my day-to-day, unhook myself from my office and my clients, and dial things down. I did not engage in work at all. It was insanely LIBERATING. I did not realize how much ‘stuff,’ stress, tension, pressure, and, to a degree, burnout I was lugging around. I am shocked I was not hit for an overweight baggage charge at the airport.

Every day was a great adventure. I am an observer when I travel. I love to look at the people, absorb the culture, the landscapes of the city and the countryside, and of course, the local food. And as I observe and absorb, I document it all on camera.

Life presents pressure every day. Personal, professional, and silly things get in our way. We let this happen. We are so involved in the day that we do not realize just how profound the impact of pressure is. It has a nasty habit of creeping into our heads. It often gets the best of us, and before we know it, we are stressed out. It is difficult to recognize within ourselves that we need a break, a change of scenery, a change of our daily grind, a breather, or a respite that allows us a chance to disconnect. It is so necessary to stop and consider where you are and how you feel. Embrace that moment and be honest with yourself. Is this a suitable time to get away? A staycation or a grand getaway will always help you find balance if you really commit to disconnecting and UNPLUG.
