As technology drives daily changes, we must all question how and why it shapes our lives so profoundly. Tech continues to redefine everything we do. It’s important at any age to embrace the changes. Running from them will create a disconnect in our ability to communicate and engage. Consider how often you use technology. Do you stream? Do you shop online? Do you plan your trip using a screen? Do you manage your bank accounts online? Education, studying, healthcare management, information and, career development – The list can go on. We don’t need to be the CTO, but make no mistake, we all need and use technology.
I work with university students. They have grown up with a touchpad and a keyboard. They are intuitively fast when it comes to understanding new technology. My age, it takes a little longer for me to get it, but I welcome the challenge to learn, as it does improve the quality of my life.
Technology reliably provides results and can mold a daily experience. Like most things in life, we don’t know what we don’t know and that can create all kinds of apprehension and angst. If you let that control you, it will be difficult to grow. Accept and welcome the unknown. It will make the uphill to upskill easier.
