You know when you least expect it, you get, what at the time, seems like a great idea, and you make a mental note, as you will come back to that thought/idea later.

Naturally, you have done 5 zillion things in between and when you finally try and reference that idea, you cannot, for love or money, remember what the hell that idea was. You know it was good. You know it was relevant. You know it was going to be some success….but you just can’t remember it.

These ideas that we all get throughout the course of the day and night come and go as easily as an inhale/exhale. In a mini second, a heartbeat – we have it and then we don’t.

It’s gone forever. Where is it? Is it with the missing socks that disappear in the laundry? A mystery never to be solved.

The ideas and thoughts for a productive mind come and go. They arrive and they depart better than any mass transit system. And, they do it with far better regularity.

But, without a notebook and a pen – they are meaningless and almost always lost forever. So write it down. Keep a journal. Make a reference library for yourself. Many of these things seem good at the moment and then when you really have time to process and review – you see that it wasn’t so great. But, at least you have it recorded and don’t have to beat yourself up because you didn’t remember it. And, if it is good – you have the means with which to work it out anytime you want…..because you wrote it down. You have it journal-ized! Now that you have recorded and documented these wonderful ideas, you can make time to work with them.

Define a time of day or night and maximize it to do your best work. You build an observation deck in your mind and use it to take a look at the view from within and have a good ‘think’. And, as you do, write down what you are thinking. Creative and productive minds need time structure. It’s a great way to improve ‘you’. Don’t resist the curiosity and be enthusiastic about something new. Take the ideas from paper, execute and make them come to life.
