Are you? Serious can be a great quality to have. It can message very well on your behalf. Your colleagues and friends might see you as a ‘serious person’ and hopefully the context is what you would like. Serious can also work against you. “Oh, he/she is sooooo serious and doesn’t know how to lighten up”. Not what we might consider a ‘user-friendly’ characteristic.

Being responsible, being focused, having a head for details, always thinking something through are admirable qualities, but you can also overdo it. Are you one of those OVER-THINKERS? You know who you are – Always looking to reinvent your wheel, when in fact the wheel is already round and gets you where you need to be. Being serious about what you do is a good thing. It’s like most things in life – Moderation. And like all things, we can take it just a bit over the edge. It will piss and turn people off, and you will have a difficult time getting things done. Rigid, hyper-focused, fixated, being so obsessed will typically waste a lot of time. Engage in smart, moderate thinking, be serious because your task is important, but know when to see the end. Be in ‘the zone’ but don’t crawl down the rabbit hole and get lost in your SERIOUS.
