As an avid tennis fan (junkie really) I am having a hard time accepting that the major season has come to an end. Now I will have to wait until January for the Australian Open to kick things off again. If you are a fan, you will hear the chair ump call the score after every point. On occasion, you will hear ‘advantage (or ad) followed by the player’s name. Advantage in any context carries a pretty good and positive message. Afterall, who doesn’t look to gain an edge and be ahead? Pretty good place to be.

Advantage adds value. Not quite a drop of the mike, but it helps make a strong point. It can provide an edge. It sometimes can dominate, show a sense of authority, illustrate control and POWER. We do live in a competitive society which can motivate us to find the upper hand. In business, recreational or professional sports, our day-to-day activities, and negotiations of any kind, we all want to have an ADVANTAGE. We need to be on our ‘A’ game to gain the advantage. It doesn’t happen easily. We must work towards the result, the outcome. We don’t deserve that – We must earn it and that comes with one thing, a sense of commitment. Anyone that has tasted success knows that. It requires HARD WORK, dedication, passion, drive and resolve. You invest in yourself. You devote your time and energy to get better. It takes time to improve. It’s hard work to exceed expectations. The goals, the outcome the results should drive us. Succes does not come easily. Prepare, practice, study, listen and learn and look for the ADVANTAGE. It’s a great feeling when you can say ‘advantage YOU’.
