It’s that time again – The Holidays and the New Year. Speaking for myself, I have a lot to be thankful for. It’s so important that we take a pause, recognize what and who matters most. There are always things that get in the way. Things that cause some sort of pain or discomfort. That’s where the challenges come into play. Try not to let the weight of the bad stuff outweigh the good stuff. Lean into the good, work on the bad but above all – Learn to balance and be grateful. I listen to friends, family, colleagues as they complain about the stress this time of year can cause. Real, rational, relevant, and without question, the holidays can add pressure to what should be a happy time. Difficult to ignore what hurts. Pain can disable us in so many ways and far be it from me to minimize what others feel, but I always try and mitigate the best I can, ENJOY and celebrate all the things that really matter. My family, my friends, my colleagues, my students, my neighbors. These are the people I engage with every day. They mean a lot to me, and I need to remember all of them for adding so much joy, support, strength and comfort to my life. What they contribute to my life is not something I can measure, but they do make a difference in all that I do. If you have a fraction of what I have, you are in a good place and if what you have equals what I have, you are in the best place. So, CELEBRATE what you have and don’t focus on what you don’t have.
