Funny how each week, in it’s own way, becomes thematic. There was a continuous flow of resume – review –  requests (say that 5 times fast).

Some from industry friends and several from private clients.

I don’t like to write or even re-write a resume. I am much better at processing the content and helping you determine a better presentation of who you are.

And that’s what it’s about. Presenting yourself. Marketing yourself. Branding yourself. How do you introduce yourself quickly, differentiate yourself and offer a compelling story that attracts the hiring manager, studio manager or as we now call them – Talent Acquisition Team?

Resumes are significant. Don’t minimize their importance. The average time spent on a rez is about 5 seconds. So, think about that white space and how to use it effectively and strategically. Make it clear that you are someone that has relevancy and will add value to the hiring company.  Don’t tell them what you do – tell them what you will achieve. It’s subtle – but it presents better.

This is not about you. It’s about the needs of the company you are interested in. We call it a 1st impression for a reason. You don’t get chance #2.

I represent a lot of talent. My job is to exhibit good judgement and present the best I can to solve the problems of my clients. I save them time. That is my added value.

What’s yours?

Have a great weekend.
