I’m fortunate enough to be connected with some of the best talent in the New York Metro area. The diversity is extraordinary. I work hard to build these relationships and even harder to maintain them. It’s a great investment of time, as the doors that have opened allow me the opportunity to get a full panoramic view of creative services.

The view is clear and the resources that I rely on for industry insight is always educational. Everyday, I learn – mostly from asking good questions. However, it’s the ability to LISTEN to the answers that offer me the most value.

This group of studio managers, producers, creative directors, developers, designers, hiring managers and talent acquisition mangers are my best teachers. They all have something to say and I’m smart enough to pay attention. Sometimes it’s a minor detail. A simple thought that drives the most significant message.

Had a conversation this week with a friend. VP at a very good agency – he made reference to ‘getting his arms around the landscape’. It occurred to me how important that is, however, what I realized, it’s more than that and maybe it’s even more important to recognize the RHYTHM of the environment. The workflow, the pattern and the personality – that’s the real deal. That’s the heartbeat of an agency or workplace.

Get your arms around that. It’s a better measurement and will help you feel your way in and become a part of that landscape.

See you next week.
