Looking for a job, as we all know, is a process and that requires a host of ‘things’ in order to be successful and find something that satisfies you, aligns well with your skills and your abilities. For those of you that follow me – SKILL-A-BILITY.

There are so many moving parts when it comes to finding a job. Maintaining some consistency is important. You will need a plan. Please ask yourself: What makes me stand out? How can I separate myself from the crowd? What are my objectives? What is my target? And, finally, do I have the necessary skills to connect?

All of this comes down to branding. As you begin to map out a plan to search for and secure a job, you MUST consider yourself the brand, the product or the service. When you are looking for a job, you are marketing and selling YOU. Simply put, no brand launches without a strategic plan. That strategy drives the entire process. Before you launch, have an idea about the targeted market, what they do, why they do it, who they do it for and will you bring ‘ADDED VALUE’ to them. When all is said and done, no matter how skilled you are, if you cannot be an asset, they will pass on you. As you begin to outline your plan, be cognizant about your presentation and what your BRAND NARRATIVE is. Drive all that with a sense of passion and PURPOSE. Let the audience know who you are and what you stand for.

Process is a time-required condition. That too, should be a consideration. TIME….That nasty little item that we never seem to have enough of can always get the best of us, so it is a very important piece of your ‘strategic BRAND plan’. Manage your time efficiently, effectively and with determination. My job as a career coach is to enable you. To coach you. To be your advocate but you will have to drive this plan. I will stand by you every step of the way, but I won’t get in your way. I am there to guide and protect, but you must stand on your own 2 feet and take this one step at a time.

And when you LAND, and you will…..you will focus on a few simple rules. You will listen, you will process what they say and you will learn. As you begin to establish yourself, you will earn trust. That will lead to more responsibility and then you begin to establish peer partners and just like that – you are on your way to your very own FUTURE.
